A Story:
dramatically told and guaranteed to hold attention!

From ten minutes to one hour. |

Basic morality might be included
(e.g. why we should not tell lies). |

Different emotions can be explored. |

Tales from the Ramayana, Mahabharata,
Panca-Tantra, etc. |

Children can be involved in dressing-up,
role-play, etc. |

Dressing-Up in Indian Costume:
a favourite item
Generally we dress volunteers in prayer shawls with bindi or tilak,
and sometimes one or two in saris and dhotis.
(This item can be even more rewarding when followed up with a
drawing class or play-acting.)

Demonstration of the arti ceremony:
worship as practised by Hindus at home
Incense, conchshells, flowers and peacock fans make this item exciting
and experiential. Running commentary and explanation included.

SECONDARY
Discussions on Hindu / Vedic Culture and Philosophy:
Thought provoking, stimulating, even challenging!
Ideal for R.E. or sixth form conferences. Shorter talks provided
for assemblies on a topic or theme of your choice. Clear explanations
of a wide range of subjects including:
 |
brahman |
 |
atman |
 |
karma |
 |
reincarnation |
 |
moksha |
 |
samskaras
(birth, marriage, etc.) |
|
 |
caste system |
 |
ISKCON (history, development
& lifestyle) |
 |
puja |
 |
deities |
 |
prashad, etc. |
|
Presentations are appropriately pitched with games
and teaching aids for lower secondary pupils and stimulating philosophical
debate for older students. Social issues, morality & ethics
are popular with PSME and General Studies students. Question and
answer sessions at the end.

Workshops:
Activities such as dressing-up making garlands etc; also academic
workshops
(Year 11 upwards)
Practical engagements and exercises in comprehension, assimilation,
evaluation and communication.

Demonstration of the Arti Ceremony:
A slightly more intellectual approach than for primary pupils
"For the students, these trips are the high-light
of the year. As a busy teacher, I am always impressed with your
hospitality, professionalism and sensitivity to our needs.
Thank you."
