| About our Dancers
Govardhana devi dasi trained in Bharat Natyam under Guru Srimati Thankamani
Kutty of the Kalamandalam School in Calcutta. She has taught the art in Britain since
1981 and now lives in Hertfordshire. She is renowned for highly emotive performances,
captivating even the hearts of those unfamiliar with this, the best loved of all forms
of Indian classical dance.
Indulekha devi dasi is currently training in Bharat Natyam under Guru
Prakash Yadagudde of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in West Kensington. For the last three
years she has also studied the art of classical singing (in the South Indian Karnatic
style).

Classical Dance
Each session lasts about 45 minutes. This includes three dances with a further
ten minutes for either questions and answers or, alternatively, a short informal dance
lesson for pupils. The dancer gives full explanations before each item, to help the audience
recognise the different elements of the dance and empathise with the various moods.
